You Don’t Need a Fancy Kitchen to Cook

A lot of times the excuse for not trying to learn how to cook your own meals is, “well I don’t have a big enough kitchen.” Or “I don’t have all of the fancy tools and utensils that the chefs use.”

I’ll let you know right now; YOU DON’T NEED THAT STUFF.

I’ve been teaching myself how to cook after moving in with my boyfriend almost two years ago. I went from having my parents cook for me every night, to having nothing but bagel bites in the freezer! (I love bagel bites.)

If you looked at my kitchen, you would see that I don’t have anything spectacular. I have a beautiful home that I am proud to own, but nowhere near the extravagant kitchens you see influencers and chefs cook in. You’d also know that half of my pots, pans, and machinery are actually all hand-me-downs. I was lucky enough to cross a Facebook post of someone who lived in my old neighborhood who was looking to get rid of all of his mother’s cookware since she was moving into his home.

I purchased a food processor and griddle for $10, and when I went to pick it up, the gentleman had put out a large box FULL of pots, pans, mixing bowls, mixers and so much more for me to take as well. As much as I would love to have a beautiful new set of cookware, it’s not in the cards for me. So, I will continue to be grateful for what I have and use what I can afford!

It’s not all about the fancy stuff, it’s about learning something new and making a fun mess with it too!
