Kitchenware You’ll Need as a Beginner

When you’re starting to learn how to cook, you don’t need to go crazy with buying a million different kitchen tools. We can make simple work!

If you’re looking to start off your messy cooking life, start out with buying these essentials: (Remember, they don’t need to be fancy, just functional!)

  1. Sharp Knives – I bought a 6-piece set from At Home for $10 and they’ve lasted 2 years!
  2. Measuring spoons and cup- Trust me, you cannot eyeball it.
  3. 13 x 9 glass baking pan – I cook everything from chicken to cake in mine.
  4. A frying pan – I bought a 10 inch to start off with and use it everyday.
  5. Pots – I pieced a set together from TJ Maxx for cheap and have 3 different sized pots.
  6. Cutting Board – Please don’t mess up your countertops or kitchen table.
  7. Can Opener – Do you know how many times I’ve tried to stab a can of beans open? Too many.
  8. Wooden Utensils – These are the kinds to use when you’re mixing something in the pots and pans! You can use them on non-stick pans and metal without scratching them.
  9. Mixing bowls – Get the whole set of nesting bowls. Trust me. When you start watching all of the TikTok’s and see how many bowls people use in recipes, you’re going to want them.
  10. Colander – Just buy one. I’ve lost way too much food down the drain trying to strain food out of a pot with my spoons.

I’ll say it a million times, these things don’t need to be new, fancy, or expensive! Find what works best for you, but these are the things that I used most when I try out new recipes.
